Quartzite is a natural metamorphic rock formed from sandstone. We use it when building custom countertops and a variety of other items. It's usually white or gray, although other colors are available. Quartzite, like other natural stone, requires some maintenance: it must be sealed, then occasionally resealed, to prevent staining.
Quartz, on the other hand, is a synthetic material. It's made of stone, resin and pigments in a factory. Quartz is often made to mimic natural stone. Because its appearance is deliberately designed, it's available in a wide variety of colors. It's easier to maintain than natural stone like quartzite.
